Weavers Yard sits on Old Road in Cheadle, with Abney Hall Park to the North. Cheadle is a town in the Greater Manchester borough of Stockport. It has a rich history, evolving from prehistoric times through Roman occupation, Anglo-Saxon settlement, and into the Industrial Revolution, with evidence of memorial mounds, Roman coins, and Anglo-Saxon crosses found in the area. Cheadle grew rapidly during the Industrial Revolution as a stopping point for travellers and merchants on their way to Manchester. Abney Hall was built in 1847 and is the focal point of the park. Its grand structure and landscaped gardens tell of the wealth of the first owner, a former Mayor of Stockport and cotton magnate. Abney Hall Park sits on an area that was once part of the River Mersey flood plain.
